About On Command K9 academy

Positive reinforcement from the dog's point of view

On Command K9 Academy is a Bradenton dog training business owned and operated by Mark Jacobs, serving Venice, Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch, Ellenton, Tampa and Pinellas County. The academy cites over 30 years of experience and uses positive reinforcement, approaching every situation from the dog's point of view without harsh tools. Each dog is assessed individually, and training happens in the owner's home or at the training facility.

Programs

Programs cover behavior modification, board and train, obedience training, personal and home protection and puppy training, including breed-specific problems. All services come with a lifetime warranty, and lessons continue for as long as needed to build the desired skills. Consultations and evaluations are free.

The trainers

Mark is a graduate of The United States and South Bay K-9 Academy schools for dog training and a Navy veteran, and has been involved in training, breeding and showing AKC, UKC and rare breeds since 1983. He is a member of The Peace River Schutzhund Club and exclusive trainer for American Bulldog Rescue of Tampa, with training in obedience competition, Schutzhund, tracking and personal protection. Associate trainer and kennel manager Brenden Sutton graduated from the academy's trainers school in 2021.

What owners say

A Venice client wrote that Mark "explains what he's doing, and why, and I swear gets inside Piper's head."
