About PALS Dog Training LLC

PALS Dog Training was "founded in 2009 on the belief that not all pets are born equal", and trains cats as well as dogs – the business writes itself as "PALS Dog and Cat Training" and says "We are animal lovers first, and trainers second."

Where the classes actually happen

This is a trainer without a single facility. Group classes run at The Pet Hospitals in Germantown, Collierville and East Memphis, at a Collierville boarding building behind 18 S. Byhalia Rd, and at the SPCA Memphis Adoption Center at Carriage Crossing. Classes are four weeks for $160 with six to eight dogs per class, covering basic and advanced obedience; a six-class advanced block at $200 works towards AKC Canine Good Citizen, Advanced CGC and the Urban test.

In-home training is "100% tailored around your needs" at $120/hr in Shelby County, or four sessions for $400. Boot Camps run Monday to Friday at The Pet Hospitals in Collierville, drop-off after 7am and pick-up before 6pm, at $933 for the week including one in-home session. One-hour sessions at The Pet Hospitals are $70/hr without the owner present or $100/hr with. There are also 30-minute telephone consultations at $40, one-hour Zoom sessions at $90, and park meetings at $120/hr.

Method

Unusually clear, and worth quoting in full: "We are positive force-free trainers. Our training methods do not use e-collars or any aversive training methods. We use rewards which include praise and treats. We are clicker trainers for our clients who like that method of training." If you are choosing between a remote-collar program and a reward-based one, this is the explicit other end of that choice in the Memphis market.
