About Performance Kennels Inc
Police and detector dog training in Buffalo
Performance Kennels is a Buffalo business that started in 1998 to provide high quality police service dogs with a personal touch. Owner and trainer Steve Pearson spent 22 years with his department's K-9 unit as a handler, supervisor and trainer, and the training staff are current or former law enforcement or military K-9 handlers, including handlers from the Marine Corps, Army, Secret Service and B.A.T.F.
Dogs and training
The kennel travels to Eastern Europe to test and hand select the dogs it trains, mainly German Shepherds and German Shepherd / Malinois crosses for patrol work and sporting breeds such as Labradors, Goldens and Spaniels for detection. It trains narcotic, explosive and wildlife detector dogs, the last for game warden programs, along with tracking and evidence search. Handler courses run about two weeks for narcotics and three weeks for explosives, and smaller class sizes allow more one-on-one trainer time.
Courses
Other courses range from very basic to advanced dog and handler training, along with training seminars.
