About Remi’s K9 Academy & Pet Resort, LLC

What they do

Remi's K9 Academy & Pet Resort is a Joplin pet resort – boarding, daycare and grooming – with a

training program that has its own page, its own calendar and its own published prices. Training

sign-ups are handled in the facility rather than online.

The training ladder

Group classes run at beginner, intermediate and advanced level, with a separate trick class.

The six-week beginner group class is $130, or $110 with proof of adoption for a dog owned no

more than six months. The combined intermediate and advanced class runs seven weeks at $195. A

package covering all three levels across thirteen weeks is $290, and there is a two-dog package

at $205 for beginner and $325 for intermediate and advanced. AKC testing is $30 and covers Pup

Star, Canine Good Citizen, Public Access and temperament testing, with more on request.

Private work

Private lessons are $50 and up, aimed at behavior modification, teaching a few specific tasks

or whatever the owner asks for, and run 30 to 40 minutes per session. The site says the trainer

will teach at the facility or come to the owner, with an extra charge of $0.80 per mile beyond

fifteen miles from the facility. A $30 evaluation is offered to set a plan for future training

or problem behaviors; the site is clear that no training is done during the evaluation itself.

Puppies and service-dog preparation

The beginner description addresses new puppies and manners, and asks whether the owner is ready

to start preparing a pup for service dog and AKC testing.

Practical notes

The site says the business works with many dogs that have special behavioral needs and, because

of that, does not give facility tours; photographs and videos of the rooms are on the boarding

page instead. The address is 1110 E. 7th Street, Ste. 30, Joplin, Missouri 64804, the phone

number is (417) 726-5099, and the site notes that its AT&T phone system sometimes drops calls

and asks callers to try again.
