About The Pampered Pooch Day Spa

What they do

The Pampered Pooch Group in Joplin runs grooming, daycare, boarding and a training division.

The training page is titled for Steve Zorn and The Pampered Pooch, so the training side is

presented under that trainer's name.

Group classes

Group training runs as a three-step ladder of five one-hour sessions each. Bronze is the

beginner class at $225 with up to ten dogs, and covers marker training, focus and attention,

recall, loose-leash walking, down, sit, wait, off, leave it and beginning distractions. Silver

is $350, capped at five dogs, requires a Bronze pass, and adds work under greater distraction,

off-leash walking and the place command. Gold is $350, also capped at five, requires Silver,

and proofs the whole set under heavier distraction with an emphasis on duration in place. The

page's own argument for group work is the cost saving and the fact that the dog has to work

through the distraction of other dogs.

Private and at-home training

Private one-to-one training is offered at the facility – six weekly sessions for $1,195 or ten

for $1,895 – and at the client's home, at $1,795 for six and $2,695 for ten. Custom packages of

more than ten lessons are available on request.

Puppies, AKC testing and other options

A four-week puppy socializing class is $80 and gives 30 to 45 minutes of monitored weekly

playtime. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy prep is $180 over six weeks for puppies under twelve months, and

an AKC Canine Good Citizen class is $180 over six weeks with the ten-step CGC test in the last

week. Day training – the dog is dropped off in the morning and trained during the working day –

runs $1,095 for one week, $1,950 for two and $2,750 for three. E-collar training is a

three-week class, is at the trainer's sole discretion, and requires the owner to have completed

at least Bronze and Silver or a private class first.
