About South Paw Obedience Training
What they offer
South Paw Obedience Training, which calls its facility the SPOT, focuses on AKC competition work. Its site says it no longer teaches basic obedience classes itself: a separate instructor now runs the basic class at the SPOT, and the site gives that instructor's number for anyone after a first class. South Paw continues its own AKC Obedience and Rally competition classes, covering Beginner Novice, Novice, Open and Utility in obedience and Novice through Master and Choice in rally, plus private competition lessons. It also sells training equipment such as beds, crate mats, utility bags, prong collars and front and finish boxes.
Background
Jim and Kitty Thompson run the business. Their about page says they have trained and shown Labrador Retrievers since 1991 and put 30 titles on their dogs in obedience and rally, and that they taught obedience for dog clubs from 1999 to 2006 before moving from Florida to Alabama. Kitty has also led obedience seminars, including sessions reviewing AKC obedience and rally regulations for judges and exhibitors. The SPOT sits on Baldwin Dr, with driving directions on the site from both Arab and Guntersville.
