About Surefire Kennels

What they offer

Surefire Kennels is a family-run hunting dog kennel at 8820 Co Rd 96 in Nunn, Colorado, about 12 miles northeast of Fort Collins. Alongside its breeding program, it runs a training program for versatile hunting dogs: board and train, weekly small-group foundational classes (a trained retrieve program, a steadiness program and drop-in training nights), and one-on-one sessions for owners who want to become handlers. Training topics include first exposures for young puppies, obedience, trained retrieve, water work and field steadiness.

How they train

The site says foundation is key to every dog's learning and that the kennel confirms a dog's understanding at each step before moving to more advanced work. Owners get homework and drills on Send Home day so dog and handler keep working as a team. The site says Jake and Sara are both NAVHDA judges and are active in their regional NAVHDA chapter.
