About The Dog Training Institute
The Dog Training Institute in Payson
The Dog Training Institute, formerly Mountain Dog Resort, is a Payson dog training business serving Utah County and Salt Lake County. Owner and head trainer Sean Knudsen is a former U.S. Army instructor with 20+ years of professional dog training experience and a national championship in protection sport with his Belgian Malinois, Cami. His work spans obedience, behavior rehabilitation, scent work, protection and service dog development.
Method
Training is described as motivation-based and relationship-driven, focused on confidence, socialization and clarity. Dogs stay in a trainer's home, with only two dogs at a time, and train in real-world settings around distractions.
Programs and prices
The Advanced Off-Leash Board-and-Train for dogs over 6 months is $2,995 and most dogs complete it in about a week, covering off-leash heel, recall, loose leash walking, impulse control and problem behaviors like barking and jumping. The 6-Week Public Access Training Retreat for service dogs is $9,995. One-on-one training is $1,995 for six private sessions at home or a local park. A puppy program for dogs under 6 months is also offered. Every program includes daily photo and video updates and lifetime support.
