About The Proper Pup Company, LLC

The Proper Pup Company is an in-home dog-training business working in New Bern, described on its own site as "personalized training to match your lifestyle in New Bern, NC".

What they publish

"Our custom in-home, one-on-one dog training services are designed to cater to the unique needs of both puppies and dogs of all ages." The stated goal is obedience and behavior modification goals achieved "in the comfort of your own home", with a personalized program built around the dog's temperament and the family's lifestyle. A newer Homeschool package is offered for owners who want "a more expedited, immersive training experience without having to send their pup away".

How the program runs

Five published steps: an application and evaluation to check the dog is a fit; a consultation to agree the plan; the training itself; graduation; and continued learning, where the trainer stays available for maintenance lessons and the dog becomes eligible for group classes with other program alumni.

Stated method

They describe their approach as balanced – "striking a harmonious blend between reward-based strategies and punishment when appropriate" – with the emphasis on the dog feeling supported through the process. Pricing is given at consultation rather than published; contact them directly to ask about programs, pricing and availability.
