About On the Line K9
On the Line K9 works out of Poquoson, on the small peninsula between Hampton and Yorktown, and its tagline says what it is for: "Train for life. Explore the world."
Three services, clearly separated
Board and train is "An immersive program where your dog stays with us for focused training, addressing behavioral issues, obedience, and specific goals. With professional guidance, your dog will return home with the improved skills needed to be successful both in the home and out on adventures."
Private lessons come with a condition attached, and the honesty is worth noting: "Our one-on-one training sessions provide personalized, focused attention to address your dog's unique needs. As a homework based program, this is ideal for owners who are ready to be hands on and commit to the time and effort needed in between sessions to see the desired progress". If you want to hand the job over, the site is telling you to pick the residential program instead.
Boarding is the third strand, and it is domestic rather than kenneled: "When you need to be away, you can trust us to provide a safe and nurturing stay for your dog. Our in-home boarding is designed to keep your dog comfortable and happy, with plenty of tailored activities and exercise."
After the program
"Training doesn't stop when the session ends. We offer ongoing support and resources to help you continue your dog's training journey at home."
What the goals look like
Rather than a command list, the site publishes the outcomes it aims at: "Discover off leash freedom", "Good manners for a happy home", "Go on more adventures", "Gain the confidence to travel", "Start your puppy's foundation strong" and "Build family companionship". That set tells you the typical client here is someone who wants to take the dog places, not just stop it jumping on visitors.
What the reviews tell you
Almost every review on the site is about boarding rather than training, and every one of them names Lora and mentions daily photo updates. One makes the trade-off explicit: "Her daily rate was a little higher than some, but she is worth every dollar!" Useful context, but it does mean the published client evidence for the training programs is thinner than for the boarding.
What to ask
Ask about prices, program lengths, certifications and the trainer's background.
