Whitestone Doghouse has been a fixture on 150th Street in Whitestone Village for years and describes itself as one of the largest kennels in Queens for boarding. Grooming, daycare, dog walking and in-home training round out the services.

The training, in detail

This is one of the few Queens facilities that publishes its training terms outright. The format is private, one-on-one, at the owner's home, in 60-minute sessions. Packages are sold for three or more sessions at published prices: three for $400.00, five for $700.00 and seven for $1,000.00. Every training client must first have an evaluation, which the site states is required before any sessions are booked, and the training page carries a list of options and add-on services.

The boarding side

The kennel is the anchor. The site emphasizes that there are no tiny cages: dogs get individual runs up to eight feet, and there is a separate cat room with six-foot kennels. Boarding is open at weekends, for vacations and in emergencies, and there are indoor and outdoor play areas.

Grooming, daycare and walking

Grooming has been the business's longest-running service – the site's own remark is that the odds are good they have already groomed your dog or your neighbor's. Daycare and walking were added later as part of what the business calls a well-rounded experience, and staff offer feeding and diet advice alongside.

Who it suits

A Whitestone, College Point or Bayside household that wants private training delivered at home, at a price it can see before calling, and that also needs somewhere reliable to board. Owners looking for group classes or for behavior work on an aggression case will not find either described here.
