Services

The Beaver County Humane Society Dog Training Center offers Puppy Socialization, Basic Obedience 1 and 2, Intermediate Obedience, Advanced Obedience, and private lessons (both group and in-home). Class content includes handler awareness, sit, loose-leash walking, recall, place, and down, building toward the AKC Canine Good Citizen test criteria and "real-world scenarios" in advanced classes.

Approach

Obedience classes are framed as "working together with your dog," and dogs do not interact with one another during group sessions.

Good to know

Classes are held at the Dog Training Center in the BCHS Annex, across from the main shelter in the Aliquippa area, run by a 501(c)3 humane society. Instructor credentials listed include CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed), DogNostics Certified Canine Enrichment Technician, DogNostics Certified Dog Bite Prevention Educator, and Canine Massage Practitioner.
