About Venture Doggie LLC

What they offer

Venture Doggie is a Maine dog training company serving southern Maine towns from Gray and Sebago to Westbrook, Windham, Yarmouth, Falmouth, Portland and Saco. Its trainer specializes in high-energy family dogs, including rescues, retrievers, doodles and working breeds, that struggle with over-arousal, leash pulling, reactivity and unreliable recall.

The program

The main program runs over two weeks. The trainer works with the dog directly in take-and-train sessions at the owner's home and then in local public places, building door and guest manners, loose-leash walking, obedience and coming when called, and meets the owner in person to recap each week. Zoom sessions, a field trip and an equipment package are included, and graduates get a year of monthly group classes and public pack walks. The business says the program is not aimed at young puppies, low-energy dogs, sport or trick training, or competition obedience.

Method

The e-collar is used as a communication tool to build off-leash reliability, starting at low levels.
