About Animal Intuition Dog Training
Who they are
Animal Intuition Dog Training is run by Adrienne Wisok, MS CVT KPA-CTP. The site's headline offer is scent: "Scent training you can do anywhere, taught by a certified trainer of trainers. Reactive dogs welcome. All dogs welcome."
Background
Wisok was "born and raised in metro Detroit" and originally intended to be a veterinarian. She worked as a veterinary assistant while studying biochemistry at the University of Michigan, then moved to Portland, Oregon, worked for Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital, finished her biochemistry degree with honors at Portland State University and qualified as a certified veterinary technician. Search and rescue changed her direction: "Adrienne began training with Search One K9 in wilderness airscent search and rescue as a dog handler and immediately fell in love with the partnership that developed between her and her dog." What she saw there pushed her toward reward-based methods: "it was difficult to watch so many dogs trained using harsh, coercive methods. So many SAR handlers didn't want their dogs to be pet, loved, or played with because they 'had a job'… She knew in her heart that this was wrong and there had to be a better way." She enrolled in the Karen Pryor Academy, later completed "a master's degree in service dog training from Bergin University," worked as a guide dog mobility instructor for Leader Dogs for the Blind, and served as interim dean at Bergin University.
What she does now
"These days Adrienne trains dogs and their people virtually all over the world, teaches dog training professionals through The Dog Trainer School… including her year-long Year of Scent instructor program, and is turning two decades of working-dog games into the Scent Games deck and monthly subscription." The site also carries a Reactivity page and a For Dog Trainers section.
Products
The published products are all scent-based and priced. The Scent Games Home Deck is $35 – "the full collection of card-format scent games in one instant PDF download. Every card gives you the goal, what you'll need, how to play, how to win, and our Level Dial system so the same game scales from first sniff to expert." The Instructor Edition is $89, adding "coaching notes, what to watch for in each game, class and workshop structures, and spectator jobs." A monthly Scent Games subscription is $12/month, delivering "A new scent game… on the 1st of every month, as a printable card. Playable in 15 minutes with things you already have," with a starter pack of two foundation games for new joiners. The Scent Room Files Case #001 "Signal in the Pines" is $59, a print-at-home nosework event with "Six themed search zones… Complete Instructor's Guide… Printable Clue Pack," licensed for commercial use so instructors can charge for events they run.
