About Beardy and the Beast K9 Development

In-home by design

Beardy and the Beast K9 Development, LLC describes itself as a veteran owned and operated company, and brings the training to the client. The site makes the contrast explicit: rather than a board and train where the owner has no part in the training, or having to travel to a facility, training happens in-home and in public spaces with the owner fully present.

Method

The stated approach is a balance of rewarding a dog when it is displaying the desirable behavior and knowing how and when to correct when it is not. The trainer describes specializing in relationship changes through psychology and communication, and calls himself a lifestyle dog trainer whose programs teach owner and dog how to act and react in real world applications.

What the trainer says he is not

The About page is direct about positioning: not the person down the road who will teach a dog some fun tricks and leave the owner guessing, and not a big box store training course working in a sterile, impersonal space. The alternative offered is putting owner and dog into many different guided situations.

Service area

The site names Richmond, Henrico County, Chester, Chesterfield, Hanover, Glen Allen, Short Pump, Tuckahoe, Prince George, Midlothian, Powhatan and Williamsburg among the areas it covers, with "training that comes to you".

Getting started

The first step offered is a conversation, booked as a consultation through the site.
