About Better Dog Behavior Now

Obedience and behavior modification in western Henrico

Better Dog Behavior Now is a Richmond-area trainer on Ingallston Road that specializes in obedience and behavior modification. The site names the problems it works with directly: aggressive dogs, reactive dogs, fearful dogs and dogs with separation anxiety.

Method

Training uses positive reinforcement and markers, with a clicker or the voice as the marker, and can be done with or without food. The site states that e-collars are not used. Each dog gets a customized, structured program based on its needs, learning style and natural drives, with the goal of building motivation to work for the owner.

How the training works

Obedience is taught in a range of environments so the dog is reliable at home and in a crowd. Owners are coached as well as the dog, with direction on what is and is not acceptable taught in what the site calls a humane and gentle way.

What to ask

Ask how a program is built for your dog's specific issue, how many sessions a behavior case usually takes, and where sessions take place. New clients start through the contact form.
