About By the Beach Dog Training

What they offer

By the Beach Dog Training is a positive reinforcement dog training business based in Old Orchard Beach. Its trainer is certified through the Victoria Stilwell Dog Trainer Academy.

Puppies and adult dogs

Puppy training covers basic manners, appropriate chewing, potty training and foundation skills such as name recognition, confidence and staying calm. For adult dogs, the business helps with basic cues, socialization, common unwanted behaviors such as jumping and excessive barking, and anxious dogs that need to feel more confident.

Formats

Training starts with a phone call about goals, then a first session that covers the behaviors the owner is seeing and some management strategies. Private lessons are held in the owner's home or a convenient public spot, and day training sessions, at home or in public, let the trainer work with the dog directly. Group puppy and dog classes are taught at an animal hospital in Saco.
