About Club-K9

Club-K9 is a Sterling facility at 1508 Moran Rd that was built as "a country club for your furry friends", founded by owners "tired of daycares where our dogs would only have basic play areas and boring walks." Training is one of four services alongside daycare, boarding and grooming, and its own page calls it "Ashburn & Sterling's Dog Training Facility".

How training is sold

Unusually for a daycare, the training prices are all published. A private lesson is "$100" and a "Package Of 3 Private Lessons" is "$265", each "a 45 minute session with your pet & trainer" including "Properly fitted training equipment & training treats." Training can also be bolted onto a stay: "Add On 1 Full Day Of Training $80" buys "2 training sessions with our trainer, and a training report card", and a half day at "$40" buys one.

The residential packages

Two ladders exist. "Play | Train" runs "5 Days Of Play | Train $650", "10 Day Of Play | Train $1230" and "15 Day Of Play | Train $1725". "Stay | Train" runs "5 Night Stay | Train $800-$885" up to "20 Night Stay | Train $2895-$3000". Both include "2 dog training sessions per day, and a report card from the trainer", a closing "45 minute private lesson with you and your pet", and the dog goes home "with properly fitted training equipment, and some training treats." A free in-person consultation comes first.

The trainers

Two are named. Misty Seal "has been working and managing in the field of K9 boarding and daycare since 1998"; the site says she "is a graduate of the Animal Behavior Institute and is certified in Advanced Canine Training, K9 Aggression, K9 Behavior and Enrichment, as well as K9 Nutrition and Health." Nassir Sims writes that he has "been working professionally with dogs for over 10 years", specializes "in positive reinforcement training", and "earned my certification in dog obedience and body language from Animal Behavior College."

The facility

The site claims "more indoor play space than kennel space" and lists "A-frame climbing, stair climbing, trail walking, treadmill sessions, and plenty of water fun when the weather permits." Weekends are "by appointment only".

Who it’s best for

Best for an owner who is already boarding or using daycare in Sterling and wants training layered onto that stay at a price they can see in advance.
