About Consistent Canines
Who runs it
"Founded in 2024, Consistent Canines was born out of a lifelong passion for dogs and a dream to make a meaningful impact on both pets and their owners." The owner and training director is Andrew "Drew" Milnamow, who writes: "My love for animals sparked at a young age and guided my journey into veterinary medicine, where I completed a 10-month program as a veterinary technician. However, I found my true passion in dog training. After enrolling in a prestigious dog training school in Indiana, I spent a year honing my skills with dogs of all breeds and temperaments, everything from service/therapy to personal protection dogs. With over three years of full-time dog training experience…" The site also traces the start further back: "Drew's love for dogs began early, growing up with his family's energetic Jack Russell Terrier," which "led Drew to volunteer at his local humane society during high school."
What it does
"Consistent Canines is your go-to destination for all things dog training in Niles, Michigan. We specialize in a wide range of training options, from Puppy Kindergarten to Advanced Obedience and Agility Classes." Formats named are "In-Kennel Training, Private Lessons, and House Calls." Alongside training, "we also provide Boarding, Daycare, Grooming, and a carefully curated selection of retail items for you and your pet."
Programs, with lesson counts
Each program is published with a number of sessions. The Puppy Obedience Program "includes four personalized one-on-one lessons," split so that "We spend the first 30-45 minutes working directly with your puppy," then "we invite you and your family to join us." Basic Obedience is "5 Lessons" and lists the commands taught: "Heel," "Let Go," "Auto Sit," "Stay," "Place," "Free" and "Leave It." Advanced Obedience is "6 Lessons" and "focuses on off-leash control." Therapy Dog Training is "8 Lessons," aimed at dogs "visiting school children learning to read, patients in hospitals, residents in nursing homes, or individuals in hospice care." Service Dog Training is "12 Lessons," "designed for individuals who are aging or living with a disability," teaching the dog to "Perform specific tasks tailored to your needs (e.g., retrieving items, opening doors, or providing stability)."
The daycare that leaves the building
The Adventure Dog Daycare Program is a pick-up service rather than a yard: "We'll pick your pup up between 9:00 and 10:00 AM and whisk them away for a day full of fun, exploration, and learning," with outings to "Beautiful parks," "Scenic hiking trails" and "Dog-friendly stores," and "we'll also work on reinforcing basic manners." Schedule: "Pickup: 9 – 10 AM, Drop-Off: 4 – 5 PM, Monday – Friday (Holidays Excluded)." Daycare Training is "a structured 2- or 3-week weekday program with 3 one on one lessons included."
Community work
"Since the inception of Consistent Canines, we have had the privilege of giving back to the community in many ways, including volunteering with our own dogs at local nursing homes."
