About Custom Canine Companion

Custom Canine Companion trains out of the owners' own house rather than a commercial kennel, and says so plainly: "We operate out of our own personal home to ensure the most practical, safe, healthy and successful training experience your dog could ever receive." The site footer places the business in two towns, "LOCATIONS IN CHAPEL HILL, TN AND SPRING HILL, TN", and the Google record sits at a Chapel Hill address in Marshall County.

Board and train, and private lessons

The board-and-train menu is published in four lengths – 10, 15, 21 and 30 day – with what each stage covers, from "Puppy or Adult Foundations" and "Crate Training" up to "Intermediate Off Leash Obedience" on the 30-day program. Private lessons are offered as the alternative, and the site is specific about where they happen: "We Offer Private Lessons At Our Home, At Your House Or At A Location Of Your Choosing." Programs are sold with lifetime support – the home page says "you will receive LIFETIME support even after your dog has completed their training to ensure lifetime success."

Protection work is a separate line

Personal protection is a genuinely distinct product here rather than a marketing word. The protection page offers "Weekly Bite Club, Protection Board & Trains, Protection Maintenance & More." and sells finished family protection dogs that it describes as "hand selected, rigorously tested, guaranteed & proven to protect the ones you love as well as your hard earned assets."

What they do not take

Worth knowing before calling: this is not the place for a dog with a bite history. The board-and-train page states that "No human-directed aggression is permitted." and that dogs which bite, growl or snarl at trainers are sent home. Aggression rehabilitation is therefore not on the menu even though bite work and protection are.

Who runs it

The team page introduces the head trainer in his own words – "My name is Michael. I have been training dogs professionally for a little under 10 years." – and says he started out "training everything from Personal Protection dogs to high level service dogs." Boarding, daycare and grooming run alongside the training on the same property.
