About Durben Dog Training and More, LLC

Who runs it

Durben Dog Training and More describes itself as a "Local dog trainer and behavior modifier with over 10 years experience." The owner says training began "in the big box stores right after high school," and states the approach plainly: "I don't believe that training a dog should harm or scare a dog." The work is billed as "REWARDS BASED TRAINING" using "positive reinforcement methods."

Private lessons

Two hands-on packages run one hour, once a week:

– 6 week training program, $600: basic obedience, manners and socialization. Typically the first three sessions are in the client's home and the last three in a public setting.

– 8 week training program, $940: manners, socialization, basic obedience and the owner's "troubled areas." The first three or four sessions are at home, the rest in public locations.

Board and train

The dog stays in the trainer's home and the owner gets daily progress updates. Both programs cover basic manners, obedience and socialization plus the problems the owner wants addressed.

– 2 Week Board and Train, $1,200, including six private one-on-one lessons.

– 4 Week Board and Train, $2,000, including eight in-home private lessons.

Extras

Field trips, where the dog is picked up and walked in a public location, cost $75. Day boarding (7 am to 5 pm, $30 a day) and night boarding ($46 a night, pickup by 11 am) are "offered to selective dogs" at the trainer's home. The site also mentions payment plan options.
