About Eddie Rivera Dog Training

Eddie Rivera Dog Training & Behaviorism is based in Delhi, New York, and teaches owners to train their own dogs in the convenience of their own home, using practical, humane, praise-based methods. A no-obligation phone consultation comes first.

Programs

Puppy training covers pack principles in the home, respect for family, leash and collar training, an introduction to grooming, housebreaking or paper training, and destructive chewing prevention. Basic obedience covers heel, sit, stay, down, come, respect for a correction word and response to "okay," and can be customized to the family. Advanced obedience takes those commands into challenging conditions, including off-leash work in real-world situations and a reliable stay under distraction.

Behavior and specialized work

Problem behavior solving addresses respect for family members, pulling on leash, housebreaking, destructive chewing and unwanted aggression toward people or dogs, on leash, at home or in the car. Protection training covers personal protection, home guardian, business protection and canine security teams, and advanced specialized training covers therapy dogs, Canine Good Citizen, search and rescue, detection and special-needs dogs. A puppy or dog selection service helps with breed, gender and timing.

Who runs it

Eddie Rivera started training dogs in 1971 and brings over 45 years of professional experience. He began with the family Boxer in the Bronx as a boy, worked as kennel help and then as a trainer at kennels in the Bronx and northern Manhattan, and discovered in-home training in Florida before offering it in New York.
