Working with Johanna in the training of our 10-month-old puppy (and us) was a great experience. There was plenty of essential homework that was fun but not without its challenges. What sets Johanna apart from other trainers is her insight that it’s most important to pay attention not only to the dog’s behavior but our behavior as well.

Johanna is very knowledgeable and it’s clear that she has worked with many types of dogs and owners. Even with some minor setbacks, we all moved forward and now have a more well-behaved, confident, and very eager to learn pup.
The one-on-one training worked much better than a group setting. We’re extremely happy with the results and highly recommend Johanna if you are looking for a skilled trainer who will help you and your dog master the basics and then move on to advanced training.

My experience with Johanna was phenomenal, and absolutely worth every penny. My relationship with my dog has done a complete 360. Before we contacted Johanna, I was afraid to take my dog, Marceline, on walks around the neighborhood, in case we might see another dog or person who got too close, or looked at her funny. She was terrified to go out in public, and anxious around the house.
She is slowly learning that life isn’t scary and she doesn’t have to be afraid anymore, thanks to the training Four legged scholars provided us, all OVER ZOOM. Yes, over zoom, I was provided all the tools and resources I need to help my dog succeed, and my dog didn’t need to get used to Johanna in person (which would’ve been so scary for her!)

The best part is that the training was all one on one and tailored to me and my dog’s specific problems, and I didn’t need to worry about the trainer needing to focus on multiple dogs at once like in a group class. I felt like she truly cared about my dog and WANTED to help, I can’t recommend her enough.

All of the goals are tailored to you and your dogs needs. You will see improvements in your dogs behavior and more importantly you will feel an improved sense of connection with your dog. I volunteered with Johanna for about one year, attending and assisting in her group courses. Having met numerous dog trainers using varying training techniques, I can say with confidence that Johanna truly cares about her clients, both human and canine, and will work together to ensure a happy, understanding relationship between pet and owner. Johanna was a mentor for me when I was first starting out as a dog trainer. I took my very first puppy class through her with my very first puppy. Johanna is unfailingly kind, not only to the dogs that she works with but the people as well, which is a great trait for a dog trainer to have. Many trainers can work with dogs but have very poor people skills but if you want to make a difference for the dog you have to be able to reach the person. Johanna helped shaped me into the trainer I am today and with her initial guidance my puppy turned into a great companion and muse.
