About House of Paws and Plants

A dog training storefront that doubles as a plant shop

House of Paws and Plants describes itself as "a unique blend of dog training, basic dog retail, treat bars, and fun workshops," run alongside a house plant business in the same Addison storefront on East Fullerton Avenue. The about page presents the shop as "4 on the Floor Kay9 Care presents House of Paws and Plants. a women powered dog training center with basic dog retail for your dog and their humans, treat bars, gorgeous house plants and accessories plus fun educational workshops."

Training and dog services

The training offer listed on the site is group-based rather than one-to-one: 4 week group classes, plus "fun interactive workshops, and free events." Beyond classes, the shop runs a treat bar where customers pick their own from a crunchy biscuit bar or healthy chew bar, a community-supplied Pet Care Pantry of donated food and accessories, online ordering with in-store pickup and a loyalty points program, and dog birthday parties — one- to two-hour bookings any day of the week for up to 10 friendly dogs, staffed by the shop's dog trainers, with printed photos, paw prints, treat bags and bubbles.

The team, in the site's words

Staff are listed by first name with their roles: Kaylee is named as "Owner, dog trainer, & plant expert," Felicia as "Dog Trainer," with Cami and Ana listed as dog helpers. Opening hours are unusual and worth checking before a visit — the site shows Monday mornings, Thursday evenings, weekend afternoons, closed Wednesday, and Tuesday and Friday "Open During PM Events."

What to ask

Ask about the training method, what the classes cover and what they cost. Anyone comparing programs will need to call or email.
