About K9 Functional Training

K9 Functional Training works from a Virginia Beach address on Dearborn Drive, in the 23451 ZIP, and sells a short, clearly graded set of programs.

The programs

The puppy option is residential and time-boxed: "Puppy Bootcamp – Our immersive 3-week Puppy Bootcamp program gives your furry friend the perfect head start." Private work is offered in two places, and the site says which: "OnSite / In-Home Lessons – Our private lessons are perfect for busy schedules".

The obedience ladder has two rungs. The first is the everyday foundation – "Basic On Leash – sit, down, stay, recall (come), and place … potty training, loose leash walking, door manners … socialization". The second is where the freedom comes from, and where the equipment changes: "Advanced Off Leash – This program takes everything from our basic program and adds the exciting world of off-leash training with an e-collar." If you have a view on remote collars, that sentence tells you where it stands.

Service and therapy dogs

The website carries a set of pages with titles like "What Is A Ptsd Service Dog" and "How Much Is Therapy Dog Training". Those are informational articles, not a service menu, so ask directly if you want service dog or therapy dog training.

What to ask

Ask who the trainer is, what certifications they hold, prices, how long each program runs and the class schedule.
