About Mountain Plains Kennel
Retriever training in Newell
Mountain Plains Kennel is a fully insured retriever training facility in Newell, on the northern edge of the Black Hills, with Chuck Hutchason as its contact. It trains retrievers for field trials, hunt tests and hunting, with a program built to handle dogs of different temperaments and personalities. The goal is to focus on each dog and handler so they succeed as a team, whether at the field trial line or in the field.
Grounds and programs
The dogs live and work on 150 acres of groomed training grounds with six technical ponds and two sources of running water, letting the kennel recreate hunting and training scenarios on site. A 5,200 sq ft heated indoor/outdoor kennel provides boarding. The kennel also offers all-breed obedience training and a conditioning program to prepare dogs for hunting season, along with Labrador retriever breeding and started and finished retrievers. It serves Rapid City and the Northern Hills.
