About Nosey Dog Detection Partners
What they offer
Nosey Dog Detection Partners trains specialized service dogs from its base in Aladdin, in the far northeast corner of the state. Its main specialty is scent detection for people with food allergies and celiac disease: dogs are trained to detect gluten, peanuts, Red Dye 40 and other allergens, and the business says it trained the first successful gluten detection dog in the United States. It also trains psychiatric service dogs for PTSD and alert dogs for seizures and diabetes.
Training standards
The owner is a certified master dog trainer who specializes in scent detection and has been certified since 2004. Service dogs are trained to the standards of the International Association of Assistance Dog Partners, the Public Access Test and the Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines. Allergen detection teams pass a blind ten-item test, in the training facility and in a public venue, before certification, and each dog is trained in at least two additional tasks such as getting help or retrieving a medical bag. The site says the business also works with people across the country, so ask how training would be arranged for your situation.
