About Obedience Matters
Customized training since 2020
Obedience Matters is a Park City dog training business that has served Park City, Salt Lake City, Summit County and Wasatch County since 2020. Founder and lead trainer Ryan Herbst writes that it has been 16 years since he first began training dogs professionally. He studied with working-dog trainers across competitive sport, police K9, personal protection and companion obedience, and describes a well-rounded style that draws on several schools of thought, since "the truth lies somewhere in the middle."
Programs
The most popular option is Board & Train, lasting 10 to 28 days, where a dog lives with two or three classmates, gets two 20-30 minute sessions a day and goes on field trips to places like Willow Creek Park, Round Valley and Main Street. Dogs rest in a climate-controlled kennel with indoor and outdoor runs in the hills of Silver Creek, and 2-4 private sessions afterward teach owners how to maintain the training. Private lessons run 60 to 75 minutes at the facility, your home or another suitable location, and group classes offer an affordable option with built-in distractions.
