About Sonja’s Dog Training

Detection and scent work specialist

Sonja's Dog Training is a Kamas business run by Sonja Nordstrom, who offers expert training for detection K9 handlers, search and rescue handlers, sport nosework competitors and owners who want scent work for their dog's enrichment. Her experience spans decades and many disciplines, and her techniques prioritize trust and precision communication to help dog and owner build a working bond. Fellow trainers who have known her since the 1990s describe her range from family obedience to complex detection work. She also hosts the K9 Top Tales podcast.

Services

In-person private sessions, workshops and seminars cover detection and sport scent work. Remote training by telephone or video app is available for detection and scent work and for obedience and behavior, from getting a puppy off to a good start to working through issues with an older dog. Sessions assess a dog's current training and build a personalized progression toward the owner's goals.
