One of the Pack
Overview
About One of the Pack
What they offer
One of the Pack is a positive reinforcement dog training program in Fort Collins, Colorado, founded by Patrick Tarver. Every dog starts with a free evaluation, then joins a training level. Group classes include Puppy's First Class (potty training, crate training and basic commands), Adult Rescue Obedience, Adolescent Obedience for dogs 6+ months, Intro to Therapy, and Obedience II, which moves practice into parks and retail centers. Private sessions suit owners with varying schedules and "hyper reactive or fear based cases," and higher-level private lessons cover hunting, basic nose work and basic agility or rally.
How they train
The site describes "voluntary, positive training" built on rewards such as treats, praise and toys, and says it uses "No more intimidation, eCollars, or punishment based training." Patrick writes that he founded One of the Pack to work with dogs that do not suit a group setting and to get back to hunting-dog work he grew up with.
Good to know
The site says it has partnered with a Northern Colorado therapy dog program, and the Intro to Therapy class prepares dogs for it. Ask about the waitlist for a free evaluation when you call.
