About Peak Condition Dog Training
What it is
Peak Condition Dog Training is a small Loudoun County practice built around three things: behavior coaching, canine fitness, and a selective in-home boarding and day service. The framing throughout is welfare rather than obedience – the site describes changing behavior "with a holistic, welfare-forward framework".
Who runs it
Nina, who lists CPDT-KA, CSCC and FFCP-Elite (Veterinary) after her name. Her background is shelter work and specialized veterinary care; she says she "truly began to dive deeply into dog training" in 2022, and that she has personal experience "with complex dogs with a variety of behavioral and medical needs, as well as high octane, confident, and working dogs". She also states she is working toward further certifications. On methods she is direct about the basis: "While our training is informed by our personal experience, it is backed by science. We are proudly certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and Fear Free Pets, with ethics that you can feel confident in."
The behavior program
This is not a standard lesson package, and the shape is worth understanding before booking. It opens with a consultation that includes "a live gait and postural analysis", then runs as "a 12 week consulting package to ensure consistency & continuity". Check-ins arrive on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Everything beyond the consult is remote: "All my work is done virtually, through video call, text, and email." The reasoning given is deliberate – the trainer's presence "should not stand in the way of you building your relationship with your dog". Graduates get discounted individual sessions later.
The dogs it is aimed at are described in one word each: reactive, anxious, worried, hyperactive, aggressive, unpredictable.
Canine fitness
A separate track, and an unusual one to find locally. Fitness is defined as "the use of strategic exercises to strengthen and enhance your dog's physical body", delivered by "a certified canine strength and conditioning coach" and explicitly run alongside your vet. It is offered to pet dogs, sport dogs, working dogs, old dogs and puppies, as six weeks of one-to-one video calls with asynchronous check-ins, or through a membership.
Other services
Boarding and day care are hosted in the trainer's own home on a selective basis. AKC trick dog evaluations are listed under the sports heading.
