Platinum Dog Training serves Des Moines and Central Iowa, and every session takes place with the owner present, either in the home or out in public. The business believes educating owners is just as important as training their dogs, and lessons focus on teaching the dog while showing the owner how to build the best possible relationship with their pet.

Method

Platinum Dog Training uses a balanced approach and describes its techniques as effective for difficult dogs as well as dogs that already have a solid foundation. E-collars are used during training to communicate clearly in higher-distraction environments and to work toward full off-leash obedience when that is the goal.

The trainer

Michael Powles founded the business. He began his dog training career in 2021 after volunteering with a rescue organization and fostering dogs, and he names owner education as his biggest strength. Clients mention 4 week and 8 week training programs.
