About Purely Balanced K9 Training
What they offer
Purely Balanced K9 Training is run by a trainer who started after adopting an aggressive dog that other professionals had advised putting to sleep; that dog was rehabilitated and now competes off leash around strangers and other dogs. The mission is to teach owners to connect with and train their own dogs, so that fixable behavior problems do not end in rehoming. Work starts with a training questionnaire and a phone consultation, followed by an individual plan.
Programs
Options include private lessons, virtual training and board and train programs: a two-week perfect obedience program, a one-week heel-on-leash program, three-week programs for minor behavior modification or full off-leash obedience, and a four-week program for severe behavior modification. The trainer also places rehabilitated dogs for adoption.
How she trains
The site describes reward-based balanced training: behaviors are taught with food rewards, fair corrections are added once a behavior is understood, and the least aversive effective correction is always used.
