About Southern Hound Club
What they do
Southern Hound Club is a vet-owned facility on Troupville Road in Valdosta that books four things: boarding, playcare, training and a veterinary behavior consult. Training sits alongside the rest rather than being the whole business, and the site describes it in positive reinforcement terms. There is also a Puppy Social Club, a shop, and a set of behavior articles written for owners.
The behavior side
This is the unusual part of the offer for South Georgia. The site says Dr. Amanda Hall-Phillips, DVM "is proud to be the only veterinarian in the region exclusively focused on veterinary behavior medicine for dogs and cats", with over twenty years of experience, and names anxiety, aggression, separation anxiety and compulsive behaviors as what the consult is for. That is a different service from obedience training, and a dog with a clinical behavior problem is the case it is built for.
Boarding and playcare
Boarding is sold as comfortable and low stress with plenty of play and interaction; playcare runs group and individual sessions through the day, weekdays 7:30am to 6:00pm. Tours of the facility can be booked one-on-one through the site, and the club describes itself as a Fear-Free boarding facility.
