About Valdosta K9 Coach

What they do

Valdosta K9 Coach is a Valdosta-based trainer serving South Georgia and North Florida, with three programs and all three prices published.

The programs

One-on-One Training is four sessions of one to one and a half hours at $400 plus $30 for a Herm Sprenger prong collar, to be completed inside sixty days. It is aimed at what the site calls bratty behavior — jumping, refusing the crate, pulling on the leash, overexcited energy — rather than serious problems, and the owner is trained alongside the dog. One-on-One Training Plus is eight sessions at $800 plus $230 for a Mini Educator e-collar and prong collar, conducted in the owner's home and completed inside eighty days, with email support afterwards. The Board & Train is the most popular: three weeks living with the trainer at $1,400 plus $230 for the collars, covering sit, down, place, crate work and polite leash walking, with a thirty-minute drop-off consultation, a three-hour handover at the owner's home and two follow-up sessions for owners within twenty miles of the Valdosta city limits. Mileage charges apply outside the Valdosta area.

Method

The site's position is that most behavior problems come from a lack of rules and boundaries, and that the owner should be the one setting them. On the e-collar it is direct: this is low-level stimulation, not a shock collar, "the softest level possible to teach the behaviors to your dog".

The trainer

Paz Platt is named on the site as the owner and trainer and writes about coming to dog training after retiring from the Marine Corps.
