About Tarheel Canine Training Inc

Tarheel Canine Training is a Sanford, NC training facility whose own site describes four distinct lines of work: police-K9 services, personal protection dogs, a professional dog trainers' school for civilians, military and law enforcement, and pet obedience training.

What they publish

The site's own summary reads "World Class PSA Sport Training and Pet Obedience Training Services located in Sanford, NC." Alongside that sit the law-enforcement courses, which it describes as covering "complete training progression of single and dual police dogs from green to 'on the street' and problem solving in the areas of Patrol, Detection (Narcotics, Firearm, and Explosives), Hard Surface Tracking, Variable Surface Tracking, and Obedience with plenty of hands on training and individualized instruction." For a pet owner, the relevant lines are the pet obedience service and the protection-dog placement.

Who runs it

Jerry Bradshaw is named on the site as Training Director and President. His own page says he "has been training dogs for competitive protection sports since 1991", won the PSA 3 National Championships in 2003, 2019 and 2020, and that the facility "has placed dogs at agencies both nationwide and internationally since 1993." He is described as a speaker at international police K9 conferences and as host and author of "The Controlled Aggression Podcast".

Worth knowing

Much of what this business sells is institutional – agency K9 teams and trainer education – rather than family pet training. An owner approaching it for ordinary obedience should say so up front and ask which program applies. The site directs pricing enquiries through its contact page.
