The Family Dog Training Services works from a home office in Tijeras and serves Albuquerque and the East Mountains. Its mission is to bridge the communication gap between owner and dog, so the dog understands its role in the family.

Programs

Board and train is an immersive program of about two weeks, with training videos during the stay and two one-on-one follow-up sessions to carry the training over at home. Private instruction is tailored coaching that begins in the home, where dogs learn with few distractions, over about six weeks; travel fees may apply. Once the basics are in place, a weekly Distraction Awareness group class works on the same skills in public. Goals include walks without pulling, calm meetings with new people and dogs, and an end to counter surfing.

The business uses reward-based training with clear yes and no feedback, and pairs training with physical and mental exercise.
