About Thomas Trevathan DBA Dog Trainer
Thomas Trevathan trains dogs across Middle Tennessee from a base in Watertown, and publishes a full price list – rare enough locally to be the main reason to compare against him.
What you can book here, with prices
A Behavior Consult is $95, an in-depth session to assess the dog's behavior and determine whether behavior modification or obedience training is the right plan. A Puppy Education Consult is also $95, a one-time session covering puppy development, grooming, socialization, house training, crate training, leash skills and handling exercises. Private lessons are $95 each at the client's home or in public venues, $360 for a four-lesson bundle or $510 for six, teaching sit, down, heel, come and "go to place". Residential obedience training – board and train – brings the dog into his own home rather than a kennel, so obedience and indoor manners are worked full-time, followed by a handover teaching leash handling and command use. Those are priced by length: $1,750 for 14 days, $2,500 for 21 days and $3,200 for 28 days, with intake limited to one or two dogs a month.
What he says he can teach, and stop
The lists are specific rather than generic. Taught: recall on or off leash, sit and down until released, loose-leash walking, behaving with guests, ignoring distractions. Stopped: jumping on people, bolting through open doors, counter-surfing, climbing on furniture without permission, excessive barking, digging up the yard.
Credentials and specialism
He states National K-9 Certified Master Trainer status covering basic and advanced obedience, puppy education, behavior modification and personal protection, and membership of the National K-9 Dog Trainers Association. He also describes himself as a Remote Collar Specialist and the founder and developer of the Remote Collar Clarity Method, which has its own page on the site. If you are looking for remote-collar work, that is the explicit specialism; if you would rather avoid it, that is equally clear up front.
Practical notes
Appointments are booked directly on the site, including meet-and-greets. Hours are listed as roughly 09:00-15:00, and the business serves Middle Tennessee from Watertown, so confirm travel for your address.
