CAL K9s is a Gallatin training and dog-sport operation whose three-word summary of itself is "Compete. Adventure. Love."

What they publish

The program list is specific and priced. The Behavior Modification Board and Train is their "most popular program": the dog lives with them and works a structured, enrichment-filled routine, sold as a four-week package with four private lessons at $2,900 or a five-week package with six lessons, with the note that cost varies with the behavioral issues involved. A separate Loose Leash and Recall program is a three-week residency aimed squarely at dogs that ignore recall and drag their owners on walks, at $2,200, or $2,400 for reactive dogs. The Puppy Program is a three-week split covering confidence building, environmentals, socialization, recall, leash skills, appropriate play, kennel training and exercise, at $1,900. Structured daycare is offered for "dogs who thrive outside of traditional playgroups", explicitly reactive-dog friendly, and boarding runs $60 a day, or $40 for previous board-and-train clients.

The sport side

This is the unusual part of the offer for the area. CAL K9s has its own dock-diving pool, and the sport program covers agility, disc-dog games, lure coursing, rally and dock diving. Sport private lessons and group classes are, at the time of writing, open only to previous board-and-train clients.

Who runs it

Jodi Weatherford runs the training and has judged and evaluated widely – the site lists her as an AKC CGC Evaluator, Trick Dog judge, Farm Dog judge and Temperament Test Evaluator, an UpDog frisbee judge and a North America Canicross Ambassador. She has competed at AKC Agility Nationals and NADD Nationals and holds a long list of agility, dock-diving and disc titles. Sam is an UpDog frisbee judge and an International Dog Sports dock-diving judge, and came to dogs through a fearful, under-socialized German Shepherd-Aussie mix that went on to compete nationally. Cooper Mullins handles day-to-day care of the dogs and assists with sessions.
