About Veterinary and Rehabilitation Center of Cape Elizabeth
What they offer
The Veterinary and Rehabilitation Center of Cape Elizabeth is an animal hospital that adds behavior and training services to its medical care. They are run by its staff clinical behaviorist, a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant and licensed veterinary technician, using rewards-based methods.
Behavior services
A clinical behavior consultation is a one-on-one meeting that produces a detailed written behavior plan and includes a short follow-up training session; common dog problems include reactive, aggressive, fearful and anxious behavior. Consultations and rechecks can be held at the hospital, by video or, with approval, in the owner's home. An on-leash reactivity training package of three sessions helps dogs that bark and lunge on leash and is meant for dogs without a serious bite history.
Classes
A four-week puppy class for puppies eight to sixteen weeks, limited to five puppies, combines socialization with basic training and puppy-problem prevention. A six-week rewards-based obedience class for dogs over six months, limited to four dogs, teaches sit, down, stay, come, leave it, place and polite leash walking. The hospital also offers AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluations.
