Doggy Do Right is a private, one-to-one obedience school in Leesburg. There are no group classes at all. The site states that "All training/lessons are done privately (one on one) while concentrating heavily on working around every day distractions", achieved "by training in your home, neighborhood, town centers, dog friendly stores".

How they train

The method is explicitly a pack-leadership model, and the site explains it at length rather than leaving it implied. The theory is described as the owner becoming the alpha "through appropriate (calm) communication and respect", with the aim of giving the dog stable leadership. The site is careful to separate that from harshness: "Dominance is not punishment; rather it is the law of the pack." The argument made is that a dog who knows its place is a dog at ease.

This is a different framework from the reinforcement-led approaches several other trainers in this area publish, and it is stated openly – worth reading the reasoning yourself and deciding whether it fits your dog and your household.

Programs

The published ladder is unusually detailed. Puppy Kindergarten takes dogs from eight weeks to six months and covers jumping, nipping, barking and chewing alongside potty and crate training. Basic Obedience runs as five one-hour private lessons in which the trainer works the dog and then coaches the owner to do the same. A Day School variant sends the trainer to work the dog alone for eight days across two weeks, in the owner's home and neighborhood, deliberately among bikes, children, squirrels and traffic, followed by two private lessons with the owner. Intermediate Obedience extends distance and verbal responsiveness and is named as suitable for people who want to compete. Advanced Obedience "is all off-leash training" and is by trainer approval only. Behavioral consultations run one hour and deal with one issue at a time. Any course can be repeated as a refresher.

Board and train is offered on a personal scale: the dog stays in the trainer's own home as part of the family, learning within a structured routine, with commands agreed in advance. The site is candid that "Not every dog is a candidate for this program."
