About Rude Dog K9 Training

Training plus a wider canine-wellness angle

Rude Dog K9 is a veteran-owned, operated training business led by Brett, described as the owner and Master Trainer, working out of a facility on Howe Industrial Parkway in Canal Winchester. Beyond core training, the business stands out for wrapping in canine wellness: alongside obedience, behavior modification, off-leash work and crate training, it offers Canine First Aid & CPR classes, plus nutrition and diet advice and a raw dog food line ("Louie's Bark n' Grill"). A "practical puppy class" is mentioned, indicating group-class formats in addition to one-on-one work.

What the site says — and doesn't

The stated philosophy is simply that "training should be fun and rewarding, enriching the bond between dogs and their humans." The site does not name a specific methodology (positive reinforcement, balanced, e-collar, etc.), nor does it list formal certifications or a founding year, so owners with a strong preference on method or who want to verify credentials should ask directly. The business notes it is insured and bonded. The mix here — obedience and behavior work delivered from a dedicated facility, plus first-aid education and a nutrition/raw-food focus — makes Rude Dog K9 a fit for owners who want training and broader dog-care guidance from the same place, particularly those drawn to supporting a veteran-owned business.

What they can help with

Sit, stay, recall and reliable commands, from beginner to advanced.
Behavior modification for unwanted or problem habits.
Calming a dog that barks or lunges at other dogs or people while on leash.

If you’re looking for dog training – Brett is your man! We did a 2 separate 3 day trainings with Brett for our 3 year old miniature dacshund and our 5 year old Australian shepherd. Brett clearly helped us define the desired individual improvements we wanted to see with our dogs and created two separate training plans for each dog. Our dacshund was a crazy barker, walker, and wouldn’t respond to commands. Now he’s at a perfect heel at your side, no pulling, hardly any barking and responds to commands. Our Aussie is a great dog but struggles with controlling her energy and remaining still for more than a few seconds, and Brett managed to teach her a nearly 2 hour place hold command among many other more advanced tricks! They were both introduced to many other dogs, distractions, and people. Plus we got many videos of the progress throughout. Brett was a joy to work with and I would recommend his services to anyone even if you say “my dogs aren’t that bad” because that’s how we felt and we managed to end up with two much better behaved dogs! Thanks Brett!

Brett did an amazing job working with our 5 month old German Shepherd. Our puppy did the Jump Start +1 program, two days of training with one overnight stay. We are thrilled with the results.

During our initial consultation, Brett took the time to explain his approach to training and answer all of my many questions!

During training, Brett used agility work to help build our puppy's confidence while also learning obedience commands. We were concerned about proper socialization, this was addressed through training as our dog worked with Brett's dog, Roman, to learn proper interaction from a balanced dog. Over the course of the two days, we received video and text updates.

When we picked our puppy up, Brett went over all the work they did and taught us how to implement obedience commands and continue his training at home. He also took the time to answer all of our follow-up questions Our 5 month old puppy used to pull and swerve all over when walking, he now walks on a loose leash in heel position! He also is excelling in sit and down stays. I took him to Home Depot yesterday and he let two strangers approach and pet him without barking; this is one of the goals I have for him.

Brett offers a variety of different training packages depending on your dog's needs. He also focuses on the importance of you participating and continuing training. These points were key for me as I was looking for a trainer who would focus on the needs of my dog and help me learn how to set him up for continued success.

Harper has been to Brett a few times for training starting when she was just 10 weeks old. She is now 2 1/2 years old and recently spent three days with Brett as a refresher. She thoroughly enjoys going to see Brett and we are always very grateful. Harper has always been a rather nervous pup, but with Brett’s help she has gained confidence and calmness. We look forward to working with Brett again as she always learns something new — and so do we! Brett not only does a great job with Harper, but he takes the time to educate us, and answer our many questions too! Bret is patient, calm, confident, competent, and I would trust him with our girl always. Thank you Brett!

Rude Dog K9 Training did an amazing job training my German Shepherd, Kaiser. The difference in his behavior is huge. He is much more obedient, calmer, and listens much better now.

You can tell they really know what they are doing and have a lot of experience working with dogs. They were professional, patient, and took the time to explain the training process.

I highly recommend Rude Dog K9 Training to anyone who needs help training their dog

Wow! Our rescue puppy has received first-rate training from the best trainer! We first took our Harper to Brett at 5 months for some beginning obedience training and recently took her for her first advanced training at 10 months. Brett not only trained our dog, but he spent hours training us on how to continue to train our dog. I cannot begin to express our thanks. You see, my husband had a hemorrhagic stroke 4 years ago and our crazy puppy is aspiring to be a first-rate therapy dog with Brett's help and expertise. We cannot thank him enough. I would HIGHLY recommend Rude Dog K9 Training! Oh, and I am an elementary classroom teacher so I understand how important transfer is. For example, students must be able to take what they learn and apply it. Because of our dog's excellent foundational training with Brett, that is exactly what Harper is doing as we continue her training at home. Go Dog Go!
