About A Closer Bond Dog Training & Learning Center – Wood Street

Training first, with boarding and daycare built around it

A Closer Bond runs from 550 W Wood St, Unit 300 in Palatine and puts training at the center of the business rather than alongside it: "dog training isn't just something we offer—it's the heart and soul of everything we do." The site describes the company as "Owned and operated by an accomplished dog trainer" and states its history directly: "Our founder Katy Cushing committed her life to this special connection when she graduated dog training school in 1988. After working with trainers in Chicago and Atlanta, Katy took her natural ability and extensive background and opened A Closer Bond in 1994."

Training

The training menu is organized into Dog Training Programs, Puppy Training, Group Training with a published calendar, and an Obedience & Behavior evaluation form. The approach is described as "positive reinforcement, expert instruction, and award-winning training programs," and the site credits its trainers with "over 40 years of combined experience in training, behavior modification, community education, and service." A free training evaluation is offered by phone, along with a downloadable "Find Your Perfect Dog Trainer" guide. The published team includes a Head Trainer and three professional dog trainers alongside location, pet care and daycare managers.

Boarding, daycare and grooming

Boarding is framed as a home away from home, daycare as "a balance of physical and mental stimulation," and the spa side covers professional bathing plus a DIY dog wash. Pet photography is also listed. The site describes advanced climate control, security systems and daily deep cleanings with pet-safe products.

Staff credentials

Credentials are stated at team level: "our dedicated team is highly experienced, with many certified through Pet Tech Canine CPR, PACCC Pet Care Providers, IBPSA, and PackPro," with a commitment to ongoing industry education. The site says the company has spent more than 30 years building the operation. Payment over time is available through an All Pet card partnership.
