Balanced Behavior Dog Training Center
Overview
About Balanced Behavior Dog Training Center

Owner-led training from a former classroom teacher

Balanced Behavior's premise is that the owner, not the dog, is the project. The founder writes: "As a dog trainer who is an educator at heart, I train people first and foremost. I've been an educator my entire adult life. First, as an elementary school teacher, then a coach, a tutor, and now a dog trainer." The center's tagline is "Lead with love. Live in harmony," and the stated goal is "to empower dog owners with the knowledge and skills to create a lifelong relationship with their dog that is rooted in love, trust, and mutual respect."

GOAT Camp

The flagship program is GOAT Training Camp, priced at $1,995. It is pitched as delivering the benefits of a board and train without sending the dog away: eight training days covering behavior improvement, obedience, leash skills, neutrality, confidence building, settle training and breed-appropriate fulfillment, plus eight 30-minute one-to-one owner sessions, daily training videos, daily homework, and lifetime access to six of the founder's behavior programs. GOAT Training Camp+, at $2,495, adds an in-home session, a refresher session after graduation, a 60-minute Loving Leaders Pack Walk and a Stay & Train tune-up day. Both state the same safety condition: "To prioritize your dog's safety and to focus on dog neutrality, there is no dog-to-dog interaction throughout the day." A free 30-minute consultation is offered to pick a program.

Background and staff

The site says "Balanced Behavior Dog Training Center opened in November 2024," and describes the founder's specialty as "obedience and behavior modification training, especially for owners with dogs dealing with reactivity or aggression issues," built through canine coursework and a shadow trainer program led by Tom Davis. Krista Mayer is the other named trainer; the site credits her with courses under Michael Ellis and Leerburg University and a focus on dogs with significant behavioral challenges. Sessions on both GOAT programs are run by Bill Balatsos or Krista Mayer.
