About Baxter and Beasley

Palatine daycare and boarding with a fully priced training menu

Baxter & Beasley operates at 313 W Colfax St in Palatine, offering doggie daycare, boarding and training. The site describes staff with "years of experience caring for dogs of all breeds and needs," and advertises a recurring daycare special of $20 on Mondays.

How training starts

Every program begins with a consultation, and the site is explicit that it is "ALWAYS FREE." The stated approach is "Once a consultation has taken place and your dog's specific behavioral issues have been identified, Baxter & Beasley will help you develop a custom plan," with the site repeating that it "does not take a 'one size fits all' approach." Listed topics run from puppy mouthing and nipping, barking, leash pulling and jumping through to separation anxiety, fear-based behavior and "Growling, lunging, biting, or other aggressive behavior directed at people or dogs."

Formats and published prices

Private lessons on the premises are $100/hr, available Monday to Friday 9:00am-8:00pm and Saturday 9:00am-3:00pm. Private lessons in your home are $175/hr, depending on location, and are recommended where the problem is specific to the home or the immediate area. Board and Train, which includes day care, is $900 for one week or $1700 for two weeks, with a Day Train option at $100. During a board and train the dog is worked "at least twice a day, 6 days a week" on heel, sit, stay, down, down stay and come, plus any specific problem such as food aggression; the stay ends with a one-hour private lesson for the owner, and two-week clients are encouraged back for a review two weeks later.

CGC and therapy dog work

The facility runs a four-week Canine Good Citizen class ending in a test "given by our certified CGC evaluator," after which dogs are eligible for AKC certification; the site frames CGC as the first step toward therapy dog visits to nursing homes, hospitals and schools. CGC and therapy dog preparation are quoted by phone rather than listed.
