ABC Training Kennels is run by Akin and Marie Akin-Otiko and has served the Omaha area, including Papillion, La Vista, Ralston, Bellevue, Millard, Gretna, Elkhorn and Lincoln, since 2007. The business credits Akin with over 33 years of real-life dog training experience, and Marie brings a background in homeopathy and many years as a Rottweiler breeder. Its motto is Making Your Best Friend Next of Kin with Akin.

How training works

Training comes to the client's home or workplace, where the dog lives and meets real-world challenges. Each program starts with a consultation on the dog's behavior and the family's goals, followed by weekly sessions with hands-on demonstrations and practice between visits. Programs include a minimum of five sessions, with more available one at a time. The whole family is involved so everyone communicates with the dog consistently.

Approach

Methods are based on proven animal behavior theories and time-tested training principles, with an emphasis on consistent, clear communication and helping owners understand the reasons behind each technique. Training is offered for all breeds, ages and issues.
