About Dog’s Eye View Training
Who they are
Dog's Eye View (DEV) is run by a married couple: Kate Welch, co-owner, "puppy training extraordinaire, Marketing Director, Photographer/Videographer, Master Belly Rubber, Editor, and Client Care Specialist," and Corey Welch, co-owner and Head Trainer. The site opens with the metro framing: "If you're looking for dog training in the Detroit Metro Area, you're in the right place!" Their stated mission is "to educate dog people across the globe to strengthen their bonds with their dogs, develop a foundation of clear communication, and create balanced, peaceful homes."
Programmes
Four routes are published. DEV Online offers self-paced courses, starting with a free Foundation Mini-Course or the Basics Course bundle. In-Home Private Lessons give "one on one instruction at your and your dog's pace," starting with the basics and working toward the owner's goals. Board & Train runs in the trainers' own home: "Your dog will stay with us in our home to be fully immersed in our program," with a minimum of three weeks, only Corey and Kate handling the dog, a maximum of four client dogs at a time, a midway session, and three or more private lessons at your home afterwards. Day Train is described as a hybrid of the online course, private lessons and hands-on training by the trainers.
Pricing and what is included
Board & Train has a base price of $3,000, with additional weeks at $1,000 each (each including one extra lesson); Day Train is also $3,000 base with the same add-on structure. Every program includes the DEV Online Basics Course plus what the site calls lifetime benefits: "Unlimited lifetime support" by call, text, email or video review; lifetime access to the DEV Client Community with monthly Live Chats; free weekly Group Practices; and access to structured boarding, daycare and additional lessons. Behavior work covered includes "teaching the loose leash walk, greeting guests calmly, reactivity, aggression towards people and other animals, puppy problems."
