About Freedom K9 Services
A price list, which is rare
Freedom K9 is at 89 Bear Swamp Road in Peru and is the only business in this metro that publishes what training costs before you call. A Training Assessment is 150 dollars and is pitched at four situations in the business's own words: a new puppy, a rescued dog whose transition needs support, unwanted behaviors, reactivity and aggression. The assessment is described as providing information, problem-solving and management options, and developing training strategies. Private Training Sessions are 150 dollars, or 200 dollars in the home, and generally follow an assessment and a training plan. The Basic Freedom Program is 1,000 dollars for five sessions and includes a remote training collar from Ecollar Technologies, given a retail value of 250 dollars, and a custom eight-foot biothane leash at 50 dollars.
The argument the business makes
The stated purpose is to build harmony and understanding between dogs and their owners, and the site says every dog deserves positive, empowering training for a balanced life. The reasoning behind the flagship program is set out directly: training is about learning by doing, engagement should be built through communication, clarity and consistency, and many training programs rely on treats and toys in a way that makes the relationship between dog and owner transactional. The stated alternative is that the dog learns to focus on the owner rather than on a pouch of treats. With a remote collar in the package, this is e-collar work, and an owner choosing between trainers in this county should read that alongside the strictly force-free program in Saranac Lake and decide deliberately.
How it runs
Everything is by appointment – the published hours read by appointment for all seven days, and the site repeats that all sessions are by appointment. There is no group class schedule. Sessions can be booked through the site's contact form, by scheduling an appointment, or over WhatsApp.
One thing that is not training
The same menu carries a weekly dog waste removal service at 100 dollars a month for the Peru, Plattsburgh and Morrisonville areas. It is a real service and it tells you the catchment, but it is not training and is not counted as such here.
