About Lucky Dog Behavior & Training

Who runs it

Lucky Dog Behavior & Training is the business of Becca Prox, who describes herself as "a Certified Animal Naturopath and AKC registered dog trainer and evaluator." It is based in Genoa City, Wisconsin, and her about page describes the work as a "dual-lens approach" for dogs and owners across "the Southeast Wisconsin & Northern Illinois regions." She adds that she is "working toward certifications in Separation Anxiety Coaching, Animal Herbalism and Canine Behavior."

Method

The home page puts it as "force-free, positive behavior modifications and dog training" combined with holistic wellness, and says plainly: "Specializing in fear and anxiety." The about page lists "AKC standardized training using force-free dog training methods" and "Obedience with Empathy: Training that builds confidence, respect, and a deep bond between you and your dog." The idea running through the site is that health and behavior are linked: "A dog cannot behave their best if they do not feel their best."

How sessions work

Training is one-on-one rather than in classes: "By offering private sessions rather than in-class group settings, your dog is trained where the problems occur." In-person sessions are "offered within 30 minutes of Genoa City or with special appointment (travel fees may apply)." Packages are 60-minute appointments; the 3-session packages focus "more on obedience training than behavior modification," while the 6-session packages are for dogs with more complex training needs.

Prices

The booking page lists an "Initial Behavior / Intake Appointment," a 90-120 minute evaluation, at $195, a single obedience session at $95, three training sessions at $200 and six at $480. Versions of the 3- and 6-session packages that add a BioScan are $400 and $600. An in-person assessment is $40, and a phone or virtual consult "for dogs who live outside the service area" is $50. All breeds are welcome, and aggression cases "are assessed on a case-by-case basis."
