About Rucker Dog Training
Rucker Dog Training is one of the larger training-only operations in this metro. Its own site claims more than fifteen classes a week, three locations and online classes, and describes the Cumming site on GA-400 as a larger facility it moved into from Gainesville in the summer of 2022.
The range
The service list is unusually broad: board-and-train, boarding, service dogs, a board-and-review option for dogs coming back for a top-up, group classes, puppy head start, private lessons, virtual consultations and trained puppies. A separate arm, Rucker Retrievers, sits alongside it, and there is a retail store.
Scot Rucker's community work
The About page spends most of its length on work outside the business, and it is the distinctive thing here. Scot Rucker has served on the board of the Forsyth Humane Society since 2015 and is described as its current president. He started the Friends of Nina program for at-risk dogs, served on the Forsyth County Bite Board, and in 2019 partnered with the Forsyth Sheriff's Department and the county animal shelter to create Pups with Purpose, a program inside the Forsyth County jail that trains shelter dogs for adoption while teaching inmates handling skills. The site says that program has produced its first group of therapy dogs, now placed with agencies and schools across Forsyth and Hall counties.
